The Waterside Bridge is now open, 12 years after the launch of the campaign for it by Pedals and other local groups
The 87 metre, 175 tonne bridge now provides a safe crossing over the River Trent for people walking or cycling between Trent Basin and Lady Bay, following the opening on 2 June 2026, which included a ribbon cutting ceremony with children from local schools on each side of the river joining local councillors.
The City Council have now published this useful map of connections to and from the new Bridge and we are keen to help publicise this widely:

Later that day we held a Pedals Bridge Celebration Circular Ride, leaving from outside the Vat and Fiddle PH, the venue for our monthly meetings

Following these events, on Sunday 14th June 2026 (10am-4pm), a community fun day will be taking place with activities and stalls on both sides of the river. There will be food an drink, community performances, crafts, face painting and games.
