Recommended cycle bag for use without pannier rack

Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions for any marvellous cycle bags that can be attached to the bike without the pannier racks?
Currently I use a pannier bag that I can put my laptop and A4 papers in, but I'm going to be commuting with my daughter and her new bike seat fits on the pannier rack.
I don't really want to be using a backpack as it might end up knocking my daughter.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Yeah I had exactly the same problem as I bought a Co-Pilot Limo (which I'm now flogging on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140424193614) which meant no use of rear pannier.
Tried front Panniers (still have them) but I think a laptop would be too heavy and affect your steering.
Handlebar bags will be too small and I didn't find any sensible alternative.
Worked out that with the seat reclined a reasonable way that I could manage a rucksack ok without smacking my daughter, so that might be your only option.
How about a front pannier

Don't you have to have quite
Don't you have to have quite a small bag because of the weight affecting steering?
I'm not going to get my laptop in one I don't think.
I think I'll have to see how I get on with a rucksack and hope that I don't end up knocking my daughter round the head.
True, that may be the case.
