Mercian needs a new home
Posted June 27th, 2008 by sp2cpss
Seen a nice older Mercian cycle today that could do with a new home. Looks to be in good running order and is ideal for use as is or turning to a 'fixie'
If any Pedals members are interested then pop into Cycle Inn at Beeston and see Kev or phone the shop on 9256647.

Wow the bicycle is unique in its beauty and durability. The chrome headlugs are beautiful, they were not listed in the catalog I was able to find online at the Mercian website(I wonder if this bicycle had that specially ordered).I really love the chrome Cinelli fully sloping fork crown as well. It does have vertical Campagnolo rear dropouts that were not that well received, as they were thinner than typical high quality dropouts and would either require a shorter axle or the frame builder to braze a slotted washer on it to give it more material. I am not sure how I feel about the seatstay treatment, it looks a little crowded. The wraparound seatstays over the lug is a bit 'meaty,' maybe if the wraparound was more profiled, or filed down, it would look a little more tied.
Mercian has found new home
Mercian was sold fairly soon after I posted the original note and I believe it is indeed to be used as a fixie - great.
The cycle looks very
The cycle looks very gallant! Even though it is a bit old it still looks new. Mercian cycle, they say, but it looks even better than that. I mean I am not saying Mercian cycles look bad but what I am tying to say here is that it looks pretty modern compared to a American cycle.(Just my opinion, You dont have to buy it!) It seems they say the cycle is in good form and those of you who are interested they can contact by the number 9256647 or step into Cycle Inn at Beeton!
