Cycling to Work

Workplace Challenge campaign, June-October 2010! 
 

Pedals was very much involved in the preparations local campaign between June-October 2010 to encourage more people to try cycling (or other active travel) to and from work.

 

It was launched on 3 June, to run from 20 June, in Bike Week, until 30 October. People were encouraged to register and log their cycling and other forms of physical activity, to see the effects in terms of calories shed and C02 reduced, etc,. and to make use of the many links to sources of support and further information.

      TSW Cycles of Woodborough have teamed up with the national Cyclescheme to offer employees the opportunity to purchase tax free bikes and equipment through a salary sacrifice scheme at their work place. The scheme is not just an incentive for a healthy lifestyle but also offers financial benefits for both the employee and employer.

The campaign was being spearheaded by Sports Nottinghamshire and The Big Wheel (Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership), with support from the City and County Councils, the Energy Saving Trust, Sustrans (UCycle Project) and Pedals.
