Cyclists and the new round of Local Transport Plans,
Web-based cycle mapping,
The new Cyclenation National Cycle Mapping Standards for paper maps,
Local cycle training organisations (focusing on the work of Ridewise in Nottingham)
Boosting and retaining membership of local campaign groups,
and Local Area Agreements

Free seminar for local authorites on 'Cycling - a local transport solution', also organised by Cyclenation, CTC and Pedals, from 10.15-16.00 in The Broadway Cinema and Media Centre, 14-18 Broad Street, Nottingham NG1 3AL
We are very grateful to Cycling England for financial support for this event, meaning that attendance is free, apart from the cost of lunch and travel!
The focus of the day was on the new local transport plans and how they can be used to help boost cycling levels.
The seminar started with a video address from the Secretary of State for Transport, Lord Adonis.
Other speakers included:-

'Making the case for Cycling', - Julie Foxton, Early Years Activity Coordinator (South-East), Department of Health, 'Cycling and health'.

'Cycling - a Local Transport Solution'
The programme included local case studies from Nottingham and Merseyside and a choice of two workshops in the afternoon, on
- 'Champions for cycling - winning the support of Councillors and Senior Officers',
Adrian Lord, Cycling England and Ove Arup - 'Basic principles of cycle planning', John Franklin, Cycling Safety and Skills Consultant.
- 'Smarter choices and cycling: Workplaces, Schools and Training',
Paul Osborne, Sustrans & Thomas Stokell, Challenge for Change - 'Local Strategic Partnerships and partnership with health',
John Mallows (Cheltenham Cycling Campaign) and Julie Foxton, DoH (South East Region)
The venue:
The Broadway Cinema and Media Centre is on Broad Street, only about 10 minutes walk from Nottingham Railway Station and 2-3 minutes walk from the Lace Market Tram (NET) Stop.
There is good cycle parking at the venue, including some stands undercover.
